Kate Humble Visits Hoswick [short film]
TV presenter Kate Humble came to Hoswick, the village I live and work in, to explore the creative businesses that thrive here. There was quite a buzz around Hoswick during her visit, and she’s a really lovely and enthusiastic person.
Kate visited my workshop to see our jewellery being made, and interviewed me. She asked me about growing up on a dairy farm, leaving Shetland to pursue my career in London, returning home to be surrounded by nature and to expand my business, and the joy of being part of such a close-knit creative community. I’m delighted that Shona and my sister Marie, who are both jewellers in my business, also make an appearance.
For such a small village, we’re home to my business Karlin Anderson Jewellery Design, Nielanell, Shetland Woollen Company, musicians, photographers, playwrights, makers, artists and craftspeople, alongside Hoswick Visitor Centre that celebrates work from across Shetland.
It was wonderful to share some insight with Kate for this beautiful film by Promote Shetland. I hope you enjoy it.
P.S. Promote Shetland published an in-depth blog about Hoswick too - Enterprising communities: Hoswick.
