Consultation

The experience of having bespoke jewellery made by Karlin Anderson is almost as special as the jewellery itself.

It begins with an initial consultation, which can be done in person or online, where we get to know the client’s ideas, style and personality, and an outline budget (please see below on preparing for the consultation)

Design

The consultation is followed by detailed sketches of the chosen design together with choosing the perfect stone to give a clear image of how the finished piece will look.

Once the client is happy, a deposit is paid and we begin hand-crafting the piece to the highest standard, using the finest materials.

Timescale

Our turnaround time is currently around 6 months from design consultation to completing the finished piece, and we’ll keep you updated on progress.

If you have a date in mind for giving the beautiful jewellery you'd like us to craft, we will (where possible) work with you to meet that deadline.

Pre-design inspiration and information

To help us prepare for your consultation, it really helps us if you can provide as much detail as you can beforehand so we can start the creative process and have some initial ideas formulated to discuss with you:

What type of jewellery do you want to be created?

Is it a ring, earrings, necklace, bracelet etc?

Is there an occasion you want the piece to celebrate, or a story you’d like the piece to symbolise?

For example, is it to celebrate a special occasion like a birthday, graduation or anniversary? Or are there any important stories, themes, world views, beliefs held, particular loves, colours, shapes or things which particularly interest you/ this person? It may be that we can weave that into the design of the piece.

Do you have any ideas as to what you want it to look like?

Do you have ideas of the visual style of the piece you want to be created? We like pictures(!), so images of other jewellery that inspires you and photographs of the recipient wearing jewellery they love would be very helpful. But don’t just limit yourself to jewellery - fashion and style, colour schemes, landscapes, architecture… all imagery is helpful!

You might find some inspiration from the pieces we have created for other clients in our Bespoke Gallery.

We recommend Pinterest to capture online images which you can share with us, and you can email attachments, or share images from Social Media.

And if you don’t have any images to hand, a written description is great too.

Do you want to include any particular stones or metals?

For example, would you like a birthstone included, or do you (or the recipient) love a particular gemstone or colour? Metals have different properties and are different colours, and you may want to match or contrast with an existing piece.

Or perhaps you have some existing jewellery, gems or metal you’d like us to use?

Do you have an outline budget?

The price can vary as much as the ideas and the designs themselves due to the varying cost of materials, and the different techniques employed to design and make pieces, so it really helps to have an idea of the budget at an early stage.
