Oppenwark ear jackets

from £130.00

Delicate strength. Inspired by Shetland fine lace hand knitting and the women who created it, these ear jackets combine Shetland stones and the peaked detail of lace.

The jacket connects to the back of the stud behind the ear and curves forward to hang beautifully below the lobe. The ear jackets and studs can be bought and worn individually or as a set.

Shetland stones

Scapolite is an opaque durable stone found near the village of Skeld on the west side of Shetland. The name is derived from Greek ‘skapos’, which means ‘stem’, because of the stone’s long columnar formation.

Riebeckite felsite is a hard and distinctive blue-gray rock from the Northmavine region of north mainland Shetland. Implements made from this material were highly prized and central to life in Neolithic Shetland.

Antigorite Serpentine is a mottled green stone from Unst, Britain’s most northerly island. The name comes from the Latin ‘serpentinus’ , which means ‘serpent rock’, because of the greenish colour and smooth or scaly appearance.
